Sedona

What do you do when your heart feels like it belongs in another city, another state, another country? What happens to you when it’s your first time visiting that location, and it already feels like home?

Sedona, AZ

A walking meditation labyrinth looking out over the valley and to the mountains at the Sedona Mago Resort.

When I went to the 2024 International Reiki Retreat in Sedona, Arizona at the Sedona Mago Resort, that’s exactly how I felt. From the chaos of multiple flight delays then bumper to bumper Labor Day weekend traffic going north on the shuttle to Sedona, I used Reiki. To calm myself, to keep the flights safe and (as much as possible) on time, to help speed the traffic congestion and help our little shuttle’s tiny bit of air conditioning from quitting. Yet it was only once I finally arrived, being greeted by a familiar face, that I began to feel settled. It was fully dark by then, and could not see the beauty of the landscape, however the stars overhead were glorious.

The next day brought back the heat, yet it wasn’t the same as the sweltering, simmering heat of Phoenix. The air in Sedona felt different. Calmer, and at the same time, charged. The possibilities felt so open to me, that all I knew of where to start was breakfast.
